In fact, I enjoy the balanced size and weight of it in my hands. To me, there differences between 27/35 (40-50mm in FF) are pretty subtle. Yes, the 27mm is significantly lighter, but the 35mm f/2 is significantly not heavy at all. As for the focal length, while I like the extra room 27/28mm gives as a walk around lens but it’s not that hard to compensate by shifting where you stand. That said, XC35/2 is more considerably more affordable at about $200 new. In Fuji primes I like the 35/1.4 more as I prefer the rendering and if you buy used they are not substantially more that the XF35/2. If I were someone that shot street photography I should think the 27 would be an ideal choice because it’s so unobtrusive. What is the best lens for street photography Well - there is no truly best lens, but the most traditional focal lengths for street photography are the stand. I have seen some lovely work done with the 27 but it just wasn’t for me. Additionally, I like to get close to stuff when I shoot and the minimum focus distance on the 27 is a bit long. What you end up with is a 35mm equivalent that’s superior optically and in terms of handling, and a 41mm equivalent that’s barely larger than the X100S (mounted. In fact, with Fuji’s recurring rebate program, the cost for the two lenses can be a fair bit less. I found the rendering to be a bit harsh for my taste (compared to my 35/1.4) and the lack of an aperture ring was always a bother. For the cost of an X100, one could buy the XF 23mm F/1.4 and XF 27mm F/2.8 new. 9in (23mm) deep, and weighing just 2.9oz (84g), XF27mmF2.8 R WR’s combination of quality and portability is perfect for the street photographers and everyday creators. Consisting of seven elements in five groups, measuring just. I used to hum and haw over having purchased the 23 1.4 over the 35 1.4 (even though, relative to the 23, the 1.4 35 had autofocus problems), but now I am eager to grab the 35 f2 to compliment the setup.

I found the 27 to be very sharp, incredibly small, and fast to AF. The XF27mmF2.8 R WR is the ideal lens to take everywhere to satisfy your demand for high quality and portability. I rock the XF 23mm f1.4, and I love it for concerts, parties, bokeh portraits. To be honest, If you’re talking Fuji primes the 27 is a good lens but very different and IMHO not in the same league image-wise as either 35. Those are two focal lengths I compare quite a bit.

Ultra large aperture lenses (f/1.4 or faster) are never really cheap but the Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R is actually reasonably priced which is almost a little surprising considering the very high price for the X-Pro1 camera.I’ve had the 27 and the 35/1.4 (twice) as well as shooting a lot of 28mm and 35mm adapted lenses. The AF speed is quite good but it certainly doesn't represent the peak of the evolution. aperture, it is a very small lens indeed - it is a magnitude smaller than a DSLR lens and about as small as the Micro-Four-Thirds Leica 25mm f/1.4 which covers a smaller image circle and - so Fuji did a little miracle here. Wikipedia later states that for a 35mm camera with a diagonal of 43mm. I also liked the small square-shaped (metal) lens hood. But using the XF 27mm f/2.8 or XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR might be a bridge too far for. The build quality of the Fujinon is very high - all relevant body parts are made of metal and there's no wobbling whatsoever. Just like most other large aperture lenses it has also its share of bokeh fringing the focus transition zones. The quality of the bokeh (out-of-focus blur) is generally fine but it can get somewhat busy near the image borders (some bokeh smearing). Lateral CAs and distortions are nothing to worry about. aperture but it's not really an issue beyond. I am just torn between the 27mm and 35mm fuji lenses. I used dslr and micro 4/3 systems previously. The lens produces a bit of vignetting at max. Hi guys, I will soon purchase my first x system. Sharing thoughts, tips, and photos.like usual.Fuji 27mm f2.8. The quality is fine from f/2.8 and very good across the image field between f/5.6 and f/11. THE Fuji 23mm f2 oops.I mean the Fuji 27mm f2.8. From a real world perspective this is surely acceptable because you are rarely really after edge-to-edge sharpness when shooting at f/1.4. Thinking of buying a new DSLR or mirrorless lens Do side by side comparisons of lenses. aperture whereas the outer image field is a bit soft here. Compare Fuji XF 27mm f2.8 to Fuji XF 35mm f2 R WR. The center quality is breathtaking even at max. Technically it may not be a perfect lens but it is capable of delivering very nice results. (=several megabytes) thus requiring a significant amount of bandwidth so please take care of the limited resources here.Īs you may have noticed in the sample images section I enjoyed my time with Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R during a business trip to Japan.
